Police Liaison Officer of the Year Award

 The NHW Police Liaison Officer Award is presented each year to highlight the important role police have in working with the community to make our state a safer place to live.  

 

 2010 - Sgt Murray Watson (Metro North Region)

(This award accepted by Superintendant Donna Sturgess on behalf of Sgt Watson)

Sgt Watson has been the Officer in Charge of Kenmore Division since 1991 when he took on the role of police liaison officer for NHW group Indooroopilly 9. Since then Sgt Watson has adopted other groups within the Indooroopilly area as divisional liaison officers were transferred or left the area.Sgt Watsons nomination was supported by the Assistant Commissioner Metro North Region for his efforts which include;

 

* Attending as many meetings as he can and often in his own time

* Presenting crime statistics to inform and educate members

* Sgt Murray has organised and participated in NHW group Crime Prevention displays

* Developed a website for the Belbowrie and Kenmore East NHW groups

* Developed a general website to promote all NHW groups within the Brisbane West District

* A regular speaker at many NHW groups on developing a website and promoting NHW groups

  

 2011 - Sgt Robin Patterson (Southern Region)

 (This award accepted by Sgt Scott McGrath on behalf of Sgt Patterson)

Sgt Patterson is the Officer in Charge of Pittsworth a small community with a population of around 2500 people and has been involved with the NHW program for over 12 years. Sgt Patterson's nomination was supported by the Assistant Commissioner Southern Region for his efforts which include;

 

* Attending every NHW meeting whether its on duty or whilst on recreation leave

* Arranging for a police officer to attend during periods of absense

* Assisting at all NHW community events 

* Providing crime prevention information for the area newsletter

* Supplying crime statistics and information reports to the area committee

* Organising guest speakers for NHW meetings
