NHWQ Volunteers
NHWQ has many people who volunteer their time to help develop stronger and more connected Queensland communities. Since 1988 these people have volunteered in NHWQ groups in a number of elected and non-elected positions. These positions have ranged from area coordinators to treasurers, newsletter editors and more recently to a state community coordinator and web manager. With more than 500 active NHWQ groups across Queensland the voluntary work that has been undertaken during this time is something that cannot simply be measured in volunteer numbers or hours.
NHWQ thanks its volunteers for the sacrifices they have made and commits itself to ensuring continued recognition of their efforts. NHWQ also thanks our sponsor Suncorp Insurance who provide both a free 20 million public liability insurance policy and a greatly reduced Voluntary Workers Personal Accident insurance policy for NHWQ volunteers.
This website will continue to profile some of these volunteers and we trust that the information we provide greatly encourages you to volunteer some of your time with NHWQ and other community groups.
Mandie Spall - Volunteer Web Designer
Mandie Spall is a web developer based in Bundaberg where she lives with her husband Andrew, and their two teenaged children Alex and Amy. She has returned to Bundaberg after spending 15 years in Sydney and in the last 8 years has successfully managed to make a fairly significant career change from Superannuation administration to build a career from her passion of web design and development. Earlier this year Mandie launched her first business, Livewire Technology, specialising in desiging and developing community orientated dynamic websites.
In her spare time, Mandie enjoys teaching Design and Animation at the same local University where she completed a Bachelor of Digital Innovation degree in 2008.
In 2009 Mandie was keen to participate in the NHW program and offered her professional skills in Information Technology to assist NHW State Office and NHW volunteers in website design. "The Neighbourhood Watch Queensland community website provides me with an excellent opportunity to volunteer my time and practically use the skills that I have in web design" - Mandie Spall.
Mandie has been instrumental in assisting NHW state office to develop the NHW Queensland website and is available for NHW volunteers to contact should they require advise or assistance in setting up thier own websites.
