 Dominique Lummus

State Community Coordinator 2009 - 2011

Dominique Lummus our current NHWQ State Community Coordinator has been our community representative from 2009 until 2011 as well as Area Coordinator of Oxenford NHW group. During this time Dominique has been well placed to develop and promote the role and its importance in promoting the NHWQ program.

Dominique Lummus is of Italian-English background who has lived in Italy, England, the USA and most recently spent 12 years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. For the past 7 years Dominique has lived on the Gold Coast with her husband of 18 years Bryn, an architect and their two teenaged children, Jacob and Maya. A freelance writer by trade, Dominique contributes articles to magazines and publications worldwide.

Her time is divided between her freelancing work, NHWQ community representative to Neighbourhood Watch Australasia and the Area coordinator of the Oxenford NHWQ Group on the Gold Coast, as well as charity work that includes running a website for an animal welfare group and working twice a week in a community services organisation that cares for elderly Italians. Building websites, travel and the theatre are what she enjoys when she finds the time.

Regarding her involvement with Neighbourhood Watch Dominique says, "I really enjoy the dynamics and people-focus of Neighbourhood Watch. When information and communication between the Queensland Police, Neighbourhood Watch and residents flows and when awareness and a sense of ‘ownership’ are encouraged among residents, the result is a safer community with neighbours that are attentive, informed and involved."
