Rae Suosaari - 2010 Winner

Sincere thanks to you and the Neighbourhood Watch Steering Committee for organising a most successful 2010 NHW State Conference held at the Brisbane Convention Centre on Saturday, 2nd October.

Of course, with the ‘special treatment’ afforded me through being a Police District award winner, It is obviously not hard for me to say it was a momentous occasion – one I will never ever forget and always treasure with such pride. Thanks to the Crime Prevention Unit for covering all expenses – a first for me!

Each NHW Regional and State Conference my husband and I have attended has been absolutely inspiring. There is much to be gained through communicating with other like-minded citizens - usually positive vibrant people willing to share what works best. Guest speakers are always interesting.

The flights down and back; accommodation at the Park Regis North Quay; the Networking Function – everything was excellent! Police Officer Danielle who met us at the airport and the young Policeman who drove me back to the airport – both exceptional Police representatives. MC Ian Dillon was brilliant. To Acting Senior Sergeant Elaine Burns and also Senior Sergeant Steve Batterham, plus others – please pass on my heartfelt appreciation. My only complaint - I did not manage to ‘escape’ before presentations and to have our PLO Sgt Lawrie Nauschutz receive my award as arranged.

Since returning home, life has been hectic helping to organise an Engraving Day for bikes, scooters and skateboards for Crime Prevention Month, a Carols in the Park Concert by Bundaberg Municipal Band, Urban Numbering, a CPR Training Session and a massive Australia Day Celebration – that’s where I feel more at home, definitely not standing in front of 300 people receiving personal recognition. The award I received is definitely a reflection on the wonderful TEAM (Together Everybody Achieves Miracles) of Innes Park NHW volunteers.

Once again Stephanie, THANK YOU SINCERELY for everything!
