South Brisbane District is the jewel of the Metropolitan South Region, and comprises of 9 Police Divisions - Annerley, Camp Hill, Coorparoo, Dutton Park, Holland Park, Morningside, Upper Mount Gravatt, South Bank and West End. The District also has the support of specialist units including CIB, CPIU, Traffic Branch, Property Office, Training, Scenes of Crime, and Crime Prevention Coordinators.

In 2009, the South Brisbane District was the home for over 240 000 people and covers an area of approx 158 sq km. Since 1988, the District has opened 81 NHWs, with 55 of these NHWs still operating successfully.

The District has several universities (Griffith, Nathan South Bank) and other major learning centres within its boundary. There are over 128 educational institutions and 2 major shopping centres within the district.

Well known institutions such as the Prince Alexandra and Mater Mothers Hospitals, QE11 Stadium, Brisbane Entertainment and Convention Centre, South Bank parklands and The Gabba lie within this District.
